Lake Awoonga
13-17 November
Co-Ordinator: Heather Quinn
Hi Club Members
A message from November camp Co-ordinator, Heather Quinn.
I have changed the location of the November 13th – 17th 2023 Tannum Sands Camp to the nearby
LAKE AWOONGA
It is formed on the Boyne River by the 67.5km2 dam located 30km from Gladstone, just 8km of the Bruce Highway.
Facilities include landscaped walking trails, scenic lookout. Lake Awoonga and the surrounding land provide habitat for a wondrous array of plants, animals and birds.
Along with paddles from the boat ramp at the Caravan Park, there is a boat ramp on the other side of the dam that we can use to paddle the Boyne River.
The Gladstone Water Board is sending me more info about possible launch sites, so we will have more options of paddles than we do have days to do them.
When booking please mention you are with the club, as they putting our people in cabins next to the top camp area for caravans and tents, so we will all be together.
An outside vendor is happy to cater for our Club dinner at the Park. More info on that to come.
There is a communal fire pit on a grassed area, under the stars for us to use.
This is my first time organising a club camp … so come one, come all … to have a jolly good time at our first camp ever at Lake Awoonga.
Contact … Juanita at Lake Awoonga Caravan Park … 07 49750155 to book.
Cabins will need a one night deposit … Sites need no deposit.
